Hasheem Thabeet was named as the BIG EAST All-Rookie Team during 2006 to 2007. Hasheem Thabeet was the starting center for all 31 games of Connecicut Huskies with 6.2 points and 6.4 rebounds, along with 118 blocks in 24.5 minutes per game. Hasheem Thabeet also led the BIG EAST in blocked shots and finished No. 3 in the nation in blocks and 23 blocks on occasions , putting up two or more in 25 contests. Hasheem Thabeet has a career-high eight offensive boards against Villanova. When the team fought against Louisville, Hasheem Thabeet made seven rebounds and five blocks. Against Rutgers Hasheem Thabeet made eight points, five rebounds and four blocks in win at Rutgers. Hasheem Thabeet almost made a triple-double with 12 points, 10 boards and seven blocks against St. John’s. When Hasheem Thabeet fought against Coppin State, he first recorded his double-double figure with a 11 points and 12 rebounds. At the final game against Mississippi, Hasheem Thabeet was named to the Hispanic College Fund Classic all-tournament team after he grabs nine boards and putting up three blocks in finale against Mississippi.

Hasheem Thabeet at Cypress Christian School in Houston, Texas, averaged 16 points, 10 rebounds and four blocks per game. Hasheem Thabeet was a Second Team All-City Selection. Hasheem Thabeet also competed in the 2006 Global Games in Dallas from June 19-24, 2006 as a member of the African team, helping the team to a fifth place finish by averaging 7.6 points, 7.2 rebounds and 3.2 blocked shots. Hasheem Thabeet had 14 points, 16 rebounds and four blocks in a win over Puerto Rico.
