Huskies, though hot, hunt for consistency
The suspensions of Doug Wiggins and Jerome Dyson haven't affected UConn. The close games and tense closing moments haven't knocked the Huskies down. An almost anemic rotation hasn't been an issue.
Maybe spending hours at Bradley International Airport on Friday – it was nearly six hours, at last check – combined with taking on an improving and desperate Villanova team will be the things that get the Huskies.
No. 13 UConn (21-5, 10-3 Big East) will likely be bleary-eyed when it arrives at the Wachovia Center today to play the Wildcats (16-9, 6-7). Jim Calhoun despises noon starts like today's, and he certainly wasn't happy to spend the majority of a snowy Friday waiting on a flight. And with the Huskies having walked a tightrope in the last two of 10 straight triumphs, an upset appears all the more likely.
Then again, this particular team hasn't done anything conventionally.
"It's been the most different streak that I think I've ever been on with a team," Calhoun said. "Ten straight wins is great. Everybody here at UConn is happy with that. Our whole team is very happy. But we've really, really been erratic at times.
